Shadow Shot Sunday

When Miss Rosie first came home, it quickly became obvious that we needed to puppy proof certain areas of our house and yard. The major one being our deck. We put up a temporary barrier along the bottom of the balustrade to prevent her dare devil stunts. The shadows it throws off are quite pretty, I especially love the pattern it creates on the decking boards.

Shadow Shot Sunday

How I've missed SSS! This picture was taken at our local surf lifesaving club. I've been admiring the shadows there for a while and finally captured this one. I am going to go there one day around noon because the shadows these same stairs make on the concrete below, surely must be amazing.

I couldn't resist snapping this one. The shadows and reflections from the glass were just beautiful. I love how the pattern in the bench top are highlighted within the shadows.

Vintage Colour

Edit Details

First I flipped the photo, then I increased the colour saturation by 15 and cropped it slightly. Next I ran the CoffeeShop Perfect Portraits 2 action. Using the layers within the action I smoothed out the skin and adjusted the contrast. Then flattened the file. Next I applied the CoffeeShop Simply Vintage action but deleted the "soft haze" layer. Lastly I cropped the corners to really emphasize the vintage feel.

This edit was rather simple. After cropping the shot and adjusting the saturation I ran the CoffeeShop Perfect Portraits 2 action. Using the layers within the action, I smoothed out the skin, adjusted the contrast and defined the eyes. I also added the optional vignette.

After creating the second edit, I simple turned on the B & W conversion layer of the CoffeeShop action the flattened and flipped it.

In the shadows

I have been looking forward to posting these shadow shots up today. They were taken earlier this week on a trip to the beach. The sky was such a beautiful blue and the way the clouds were dancing in the sky, it was as if they were following the sun as it disappeared below the horizon. It really was magical.

The boy had fun in the shadows too :)

i heart faces photo challenge

This is my first time entering the I Heart Faces photo challenge. This week's theme is Innocent Wonder.

I took this photo earlier this month. We were enjoying the summer sunshine in our back yard. The kids were playing in the sprinkler while I lay on a blanket, contemplating the clear blue sky. My little guy joined me and snuggled in. I turned onto my tummy to take a couple of pictures while he was quiet. Then I noticed, he seemed to have got lost in his day dream. His mind had innocently wandered off on an intriguing adventure. Tears filled my eyes as I gazed at him, wondering when my sweet little baby had been replaced by such an imaginative and inquisitive toddler.
